Hello I have Vitiligo quite badly and I am wondering if anyone else on here has it ?

I have been told by my GP that this can go hand in hand. . . .

I have also been told that there is no cure

Look forward to hearing from any one ?

Rose

I am sorry you have another problem to deal with other than your RA. I do not have vitiligo but my Mother-in-Law does. She is 82 now and as long as I have known her she has always had it. She just has to make sure she uses a strong factor sun tan lotion as she burns very easily. She has also told me that there is no cure. She does suffer with her joints but has never been diagnosed with RA but has been told she has osteoporosis. Sorry I can't give you any further advice.

Take care

Jackie

Hi Rose

Sorry you have something else, just had a google and says it could be connected with the autoimmune ? Hope you get some feed back on here about it.

Pleased you had a lovely break over in Ireland, how is it going since you ve been off the leflunomide ? I ve being put forward for infliximab as it hasn t brought down the inflamation now on steroids to keep things relatively stable.

Take care

Hi Rose,

Sorry to hear you have this to cope with as well as the RA.

Lorna.......it is when patches of skin lose their pigmentation so skin has white patches.

I did once read that steroid cream can help but ,as you say, there is no cure.

Love, Doreen xx

Hello All

Jackie firstly I have stopped leflun now for over 1 month i spoke to me Rhummy nurse 2 week ago who said
that due to holidays need to speak with Specialist so expecting a call within the week will let you know- so probably may be similar to you
my rhummy nurse said as i have had 2 failed DMARDS they will no doubt try is it biologics ! I do get muddled with all the
different medications.

With regard to vitiligo it is something that i have had for many years. It is painless but obviously effects the
way i look. It is 'michael jackson' disease (thats what i call it) it is where the skin has no protection / no melancites in
the skin, so no protection to suns rays.

So it not life thretening I was just wondering if anyone else had it.

Thank you all for your concern.

x

hi rose
my mum has vitiligo and ra, she has had the ra since before I was born but the vitiligo came on quite suddenly a couple of years ago after she had chicken pox.
are
you naturally an outdoorsy kind of person? Mum is
and it drives her crazy having to make sure she is covered up all the time. On the plus side she recently bought a fedora hat in a charity shop because she was out for the day and it got unexpectedly hot and now she has even had teenagers come up to her in the street to say that they like her hat!

Have you tried the special cover-up makeup? Its a bit of a hassle for every day, but worth investigating

I've had this for years - especially on my arms and under my chin. Never knew it had a name! Huh
I was referred to hospital about 14 years ago and all they could offer was cover up make up, and told me it was a result of my hormones.
Interesting to know it's possibly connected to RA.

Beth

I do understand that is effected autoimmune . Vitiligo appears to be connected alot to auto immune diseases.
When I first went to the Docs some 15 yrs ago my Doc said 'suggest you go to the Red cross and get
camaflogue cream' . God you can see how i felt then I had to laugh or I would have cried.

Thanks for your replies
